Secure a Year of Free Studio Space in Brooklyn via the Sharpe-Walentas Program

The Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program offers an exciting opportunity for 17 visual artists to secure rent-free studio space for a one-year residency. Situated in the vibrant DUMBO area of Brooklyn, New York, this program places artists in a hub of art galleries, unique eateries, and creative enterprises. The studios are conveniently located near public parks, the waterfront, and various transportation options.

These artist studios provide 24/7 access and are equipped with both freight and passenger elevators in addition to high ceilings, fostering a conducive working environment. The residency for the 2023–2024 term runs from September 2023 until August 2024, with a special open studios weekend scheduled for spring 2024.

Since its inception in 1991, the Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program has been a cornerstone for artist development, offering workspaces and fostering community. Artists are chosen annually based on merit, evaluated by a professional jury consisting of artists and members of the Artists Advisory Committee. The application deadline is Tuesday, January 31, at 11:59pm (EST). For more information and to apply, visit thestudioprogram.com/apply.
