How did this all begin? I’m not entirely sure, but over the past year, I envisioned launching a new online platform that merges the finest elements of the art blogosphere with art magazine culture to create something unique. I’m not exactly certain what that is, but here we are… voilà!
To bring this vision to life, I’ve called in a few favors, hiring, persuading, and even coaxing some incredible individuals to work their programming wonders and contribute exceptional writing. Our goal is to provide engaging perspectives on contemporary art—where thinking is the key focus. This space serves as a platform to cultivate ideas, spark debate (even amongst ourselves), and tackle the million-dollar question of what defines art, or rather, what constitutes truly remarkable art. I might be getting a bit too enthusiastic, but in the art world, that’s hopefully a positive trait. We’ll have to see.
Having said that, I must emphasize that Hyperallergic is a work in progress. It is an experimental venture aimed at creating a space for quality art writing by those passionate about art. While the blogazine is just one facet of Hyperallergic—soon to be joined by a podcast and journal—it acts as the central hub for the entire project.
