NYFA Awards $903,000 to 132 New York Artists

The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) has distributed $903,000 to 132 artists across New York State through its joint fellowship program with the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA). The initiative provides unrestricted cash grants of $8,000 to artists working in five disciplines, which change each year.

This year’s disciplines were craft and sculpture; digital and electronic arts; nonfiction literature; poetry; and printmaking, drawing, and book arts. The artists selected for the fellowships were chosen from 3,985 applicants and are all based in New York.

The awardees range in age from 25 to 90, reflecting a broad span of career stages and experience. Alongside the fellows, the NYSCA/NYFA program also named 16 finalists.

Those finalists will receive NYFA services as well as unrestricted cash grants of $1,000. The program continues to support artists across the state through both fellowships and finalist awards.
