The Center for Craft has announced the opening of applications for the 2026 Craft Archive Fellowship. This initiative will award four $5,000 grants to support research focused on underrepresented craft histories within the United States. The fellowship invites a diverse group of scholars, from emerging to seasoned, as well as independent and artist researchers, to explore archival materials related to feminist, intersectional, queer, Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian American and Pacific Islander, and other marginalized craft narratives.
Selected fellows will engage in both traditional and innovative archival research methods. The culmination of their work will be featured in a special segment on Hyperallergic and during a virtual event hosted by the Center for Craft in September 2027. Three of the fellowships will bear the names Ayumi Horie Award, Sara Clugage Award, and the Gallaher Family Award, with the possibility of additional awards being named through contacting give@centerforcraft.org.
A virtual information session is scheduled for April 7, 2026, from 5 to 6 pm (ET), and is free of charge, though prior registration is required. Interested individuals can register here. The deadline for application submissions is May 20, 2026. For further details and to apply, visit centerforcraft.org or contact mgoodman@centerforcraft.org.
