Οnassis AiR has established itself as a hub for interdisciplinary interaction among global and local art practitioners and researchers, having supported nearly 250 fellows over six years. This program focuses on the artistic process, encouraging participants to explore their craft without the obligation to present a completed work. As an entry point into the Onassis Culture ecosystem, Onassis AiR offers customized mentoring and opportunities for future production, co-production, and international project development.
This season, applications are open for a 10-week residency in Athens, Greece, available from September 2026 to July 2027. A total of 30 residencies will be awarded, covering diverse fields such as Visual Arts, Theater, Dance, Sound, Art & Advanced Technologies, Filmmaking, Applied Arts, and Curation, along with hybrid forms. A notable addition this year is a research and project development collaboration with the Cavafy Archive, alongside a continued emphasis on material-based practices and applied arts, bolstered by the expansion at Onassis Ready.
Onassis AiR maintains its technical and production support for performing arts and digital productions through Technical Residencies. In partnership with Onassis ONX, the program also provides access to a new studio within Onassis Ready, enhancing curatorial, development, and technical assistance. In response to challenging working conditions for art professionals, the program has increased the artist’s fee and budget. Selected artists receive a fee, a research budget, accommodation, round-trip travel, mentoring, and access to audiovisual equipment among other resources.
All participants engage in Onassis AiR Open Days, a series of public events that highlight creative processes over final outputs. Applications must be submitted by March 3, 2026, at 12pm (UTC+2). For more details and to apply, visit onassis.org.
