Sofie Koenig from Bloomington, Indiana, has been creating in her current space for seven months. Her typical day starts around 8:30 am, and she prefers to work in the morning as late-night sessions tend to affect her paintings negatively. With music playing, Sofie immerses herself in her work for three to six hours, valuing the expressiveness standing affords her while painting.

While her workspace is somewhat limited, which restricts large-scale projects and studio visits, the natural light is a significant advantage. The shared environment fosters interactions with fellow artists, enriching her creative process. However, the winter cold poses a challenge, with even heated blankets sometimes necessary.

Newfields Art Museum in Indianapolis is a favorite, despite the distance. Sofie is passionate about oil paint, praising its distinct personality and texture.

Meanwhile, Marissa Robin Abendano in Manhattan has been working in her space for eight years. Her day begins early, at 4 am, with poetry and coffee. After household chores, she settles into her artwork, often guided by audiobooks. Her studio serves as a personal retreat where she can explore and express dualities through her art.

In her neighborhood, inspiration is abundant, from Central Park strolls to interactions with diverse individuals. While she dreams of a distraction-free creative haven, Marissa cherishes her studio as it is. The Museum of Modern Art is her go-to local museum, and acrylic paint plays a crucial role in her mixed-media work, allowing her to explore themes of creation and destruction.
