Barbican Set for Extensive Overhaul, Closing in 2028

The iconic Barbican Centre, located in London, is scheduled to undergo a significant transformation starting in June 2028. This extensive renovation project will result in the venue’s closure for an entire year.

With an estimated budget of £240 million, equivalent to $320 million, the refurbishment aims to enhance the center’s facilities and infrastructure, ensuring it meets the needs of contemporary audiences and artists alike.

The Barbican Art Gallery, along with other parts of the complex, will temporarily cease operations during this period. This ambitious development plan underscores the commitment to preserving the Barbican’s role as a leading cultural hub.
