Kate McNamara Appointed as Director of Harvard's Carpenter Center

Kate McNamara has been named the new director of the Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts at Harvard University, located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Currently, McNamara holds the position of director of exhibitions and public programs at the School of Visual Arts in New York.

She is set to begin her new responsibilities on July 1, taking over from Dan Byers. Byers vacated the position last year to assume the role of director at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, which is affiliated with the Carpenter Center.

McNamara’s extensive experience includes her previous roles as chief curator at the Boston University Art Galleries and director at the Providence College Galleries. She earned her Master of Arts in Curatorial Studies from Bard College.
