LSU's MFA Program Tops in Southern US for Stipends

At the expansive 75,000-square-foot Barnes Ogden Art & Design Complex, Louisiana State University (LSU) provides 35 graduate assistantships to MFA studio art students. Covering disciplines such as ceramics, painting, photography, and sculpture, along with digital art and graphic design, these assistantships are funded at $23,000 annually. This includes a full tuition waiver and subsidized insurance, making them the most lucrative in the Southern United States and competitive with leading national programs.

MFA students at LSU have the chance to tailor their artistic journey, working under the mentorship of an international faculty of artists and scholars. The program offers individual and shared studio spaces, individualized critiques, seminars, and study abroad options. Students can also showcase their work in galleries and venues across the region. The application deadline for the LSU School of Art is February 1, with reviews beginning immediately.
