NXTHVN is excited to announce the commencement of its yearly open call for Studio and Curatorial Fellows. Established by Titus Kaphar and Jason Price in 2018, NXTHVN offers a unique model of artistic mentorship and career advancement through a tailored curriculum. Annually, up to seven visual artists and two curators are chosen to engage in its 10-month paid fellowship program. Applications are being accepted until March 2, 2026.
Fellows are provided with either studio or office space, a stipend, and optional subsidized housing. Selected from a global applicant pool, participants move to New Haven to engage in NXTHVN’s mentorship-focused curriculum, featuring professional development workshops conducted by guest artists, curators, scholars, and practitioners. Additionally, fellows partner with a high school apprentice, fostering mutual learning and offering the next local generation opportunities to thrive in the arts. The fellowship concludes with a group exhibition in a renowned gallery space.
Participation in this comprehensive program enables emerging artists and curators to develop personal and professional relationships that further their careers. NXTHVN equips fellows with the skills to transition into influential roles within the art world and beyond. The program actively seeks applicants from diverse backgrounds and does not discriminate based on age, race, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, religion, marital status, or nationality in its selection process.
The eighth group of NXTHVN Fellows will be hosted from August 2026 through May 2027. For additional details, please visit nxthvn.com/apply. All application materials must be submitted digitally via Submittable, with selected candidates being informed in April or May of 2026.
