Pratt Fine Arts is thrilled to announce a dual exhibition curated by Alessandra Gómez, taking place at Dock 72 within the Brooklyn Navy Yard. This two-part showcase at Pratt’s MFA facilities features the work of graduating artists from diverse disciplines including painting, sculpture, printmaking, and integrated practices.
MFA Thesis Exhibition, Part 1: Double Take Two (March 30–April 10)

Double Take Two assembles seventeen visual artists who explore the material conditions influencing visibility. The exhibit’s title merges the idioms ‘double take’ and ‘take two,’ highlighting themes of re-examination and repeated actions. Through varied artistic forms, the works delve into identity formation through social interactions and the power dynamics between observer and observed, while some pieces explore the tension between private and public spaces, revealing hidden systems and tactics.

Ghost Light draws inspiration from a theatrical tradition where a single lightbulb is left onstage in an unoccupied theater to prevent accidents and ward off spirits, serving as a symbolic protective presence. This exhibition examines how memories and histories linger within architectural spaces and landscapes, with some artists engaging archives to explore architectural narratives, while others focus on ecological sites, destruction aftermaths, and personal displacement memories.
