Among the standout moments was the $20 million sale of a Jean-Michel Basquiat painting, alongside an impressive installation by Yayoi Kusama that was purchased within the first hour of the fair. Marc Spiegler, the Global Director of Art Basel, remarked, ‘This year’s edition has exceeded our expectations, both in terms of visitor attendance and sales volume.’

The fair also hosted numerous panel discussions and performances, enriching the cultural engagement for those in attendance. The presence of prominent galleries like Ortuzar Projects and Pace Gallery, alongside artists such as Peter Hujar, further elevated the event’s artistic offerings.
