VCUarts cordially invites the public to attend the 2026 MFA Thesis Exhibition, a two-part series curated by Egbert Vongmalaithong, Assistant Curator at the Institute for Contemporary Art (ICA), and Taylor Jasper, the Susan and Rob White Associate Curator of Visual Arts at the Walker Art Center. This exhibition will be held at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center in Richmond, Virginia, showcasing the creative output of graduating MFA students from disciplines including Craft/Material Studies, Graphic Design, Kinetic Imaging, Painting + Printmaking, Photography + Film, and Sculpture + Extended Media.
The MFA Thesis Exhibition represents the pinnacle of two years of dedicated inquiry, comprehensive research, and intense studio work. The art pieces on display are not only materially diverse but also conceptually rich, capturing the intricate and dynamic cultural landscape of their creation. Featured artists for Round 1, running from March 20 to April 5, include Erin B Ehren, Cole Kamerick Alfelt-Eller, Nathaniel Newcomb, and others. Round 2, scheduled from May 1 to May 17, will feature Amelia Baxter, Kika Castrellon, Luz Del Carmen Salama-Tobar, and more.
