April 2026 Art Opportunities: Residencies, Fellowships, and Grants

Every month, Hyperallergic compiles a list of opportunities for artists and creatives seeking financial support and community development to advance their projects.

Among the options for April 2026 are the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity’s Visual Arts Thematic Residencies, offering artists a chance to develop their work with access to top-notch studios and mentorship in the picturesque Canadian Rockies. Application fees are $65, or $35 for Indigenous applicants. Deadlines for the thematic residencies are May 6 and June 3, 2026, with further details available on Hyperallergic.

The Center for Craft is accepting applications for its 2026 Craft Archive Fellowship, providing four awards of $5,000 to researchers exploring underrepresented craft histories. The fellowship will end with a feature on Hyperallergic and a virtual event hosted by the Center. Applications are due by May 20, 2026.

Open calls for art submissions are also available, such as GHOSTMACHINE Gallery’s Annual Open Call 2026, curated by MoMA’s Dominika Tylcz. Selected artists will have the opportunity to exhibit in New York City, with a deadline of April 19, 2026. Art in Odd Places 2026 invites proposals for its Manhattan festival, focusing on speculative infrastructures for care and joy, due by April 21, 2026.

Additionally, multiple grants and awards are up for grabs, like the Vilcek Foundation’s 2026 Open Call for US-based nonprofits celebrating immigrant contributions, with grants ranging from $5,000 to $20,000. The deadline for this opportunity is April 30, 2026.
