The Tate Modern in London has unveiled its 2027 exhibition lineup, which includes an opera-inspired installation by David Hockney in the Turbine Hall to coincide with the artist’s 90th birthday, Algerian artist Baya’s first solo exhibition in the U.K., and the museum’s first show devoted entirely to French Impressionist Claude Monet since it opened 26 years ago.
The landmark exhibition, titled “Monet: Painting Time,” is set to open on February 27, 2027. It marks the first time Tate Modern has mounted a dedicated Monet exhibition since the museum began welcoming visitors more than two decades ago.
According to the museum, “Painting Time” will bring together “breathtaking paintings from lenders across the globe, including rarely seen works from private collections.” The presentation will also “draw on new research,” Tate Modern said.
The announcement places Monet alongside two other major 2027 projects at the museum, underscoring a season that pairs historic significance with contemporary ambition. Hockney’s Turbine Hall installation and Baya’s debut U.K. solo show will also be part of the year’s programming.
