LONG BEACH, CA — Artists in handmade, oversized vulva costumes made their way down the aisle of the First Congregational Church of Long Beach on Saturday, August 15, as part of the School of Sexuality Project’s 2026 “Vulva Gala.” Roughly 30 artists from the Los Angeles area received homemade costumes to customize as they wished, with some adding piercings and other details that emphasized self-expression. Others used their outfits to highlight injustices, including ICE violence against pregnant women. The second annual event attracted about 400 guests.
