Head over to Brookfield Place and explore Fleeting Opulence, a striking installation by the British artist team Graphic Rewilding. These vivid, expansive works turn the Winter Garden and its environs into an immersive tribute to nature. Available for viewing until October 2026, the piece showcases oversized flowers and cherry blossoms that morph with the light, crafting a dynamic atmosphere. Both uplifting and reflective, the installation encourages visitors to gaze upward, take a pause, and appreciate the integration of nature within the urban landscape.
Artist Lee Baker shared, “Catherine [Borowski] and I met on a flight to New York, so it’s always a dream come true to get to display our work here. What many people often overlook is the unique ecology that emerges in the busy city.” The installation highlights cherry blossoms, timed to coincide with their bloom, and the honeybees residing on the building’s roof amidst the bustling Manhattan backdrop. “After such a difficult winter, we hope that these works can mark the beginning of a long and bright spring. Thanks again to Brookfield Place for giving us the space to spotlight this oft-overlooked nature in the middle of the city.”
Graphic Rewilding, founded by Catherine Borowski and Lee Baker, is the 2026 recipient of the Brookfield Place New York Annual Arts Commission. Their aim is to revitalize urban environments through grand, nature-based, immersive art.
Brookfield Place can be found at 230 Vesey Street, Lower Manhattan. While there, don’t miss the chance to enjoy the top-notch shopping and dining experiences this famous New York destination has to offer.
