The image, captured shortly after his arrest on February 19, shows Mountbatten-Windsor after allegations surfaced regarding his misconduct in public office connected to Jeffrey Epstein’s activities. The photo’s installation was accompanied by a provocative wall text, “He’s Sweating Now,” alluding to his 2019 claim of being unable to perspire, a defense used against accusations by Virginia Roberts Giuffre.
Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on his 66th birthday after being accused of sharing confidential information with Epstein during his tenure as the UK trade envoy. This arrest follows his removal from royal duties in October due to his alleged involvement with Epstein’s trafficking ring. A Reuters photo captured him in a police vehicle, appearing visibly distressed. The Everyone Hates Elon campaign celebrated the arrest in a social media post, stating, “Seeing a disgusting abuser FINALLY face a bit of justice? That’s priceless.”
The campaign, known for its bold attacks on billionaires like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Donald Trump, has previously executed high-profile interventions. Recently, they displayed a large photograph of Trump with Epstein at prominent locations, including Windsor Castle. The choice of the Louvre as a site for this action drew attention, as it is a significant location in Giuffre’s memoir, “Nobody’s Girl,” published posthumously in 2025. Meanwhile, the Louvre has yet to respond to requests for comment from Hyperallergic.
