Julian Cox is set to resign from his positions as deputy director and chief curator of the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) on April 13, after dedicating eight years to these roles. Cox, who became part of the Toronto museum’s team in 2018, previously held the position of chief curator at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.
This decision to leave the AGO occurs during a time of notable changes within the institution, marked by multiple significant staff departures in recent months. Cox’s exit adds to the wave of transitions underway at the gallery.
In a statement, Cox expressed, ‘It has been a privilege to work with the talented staff at the AGO. I am proud of what we have accomplished together over the past eight years.’
