The Foundation for Contemporary Arts has named the Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago as the recipient of its Ellsworth Kelly Award. Created in 2016, the annual honor recognizes an arts organization that makes “a significant contribution to the field of contemporary art.”
The award is named for artist Ellsworth Kelly, who was a longtime donor and advisor to FCA. It is intended to support organizations whose work has had a meaningful impact on contemporary art.
Founded in 1915, the Renaissance Society is an independent, non-collecting institution based on the University of Chicago campus. The organization presents exhibitions, performances, and public programs centered on contemporary art.
The Ellsworth Kelly Award comes with an unrestricted grant of $45,000. The recognition places the Renaissance Society among the arts organizations honored by FCA for their contributions to the field.
