Canceled Biennale Exhibition Finds New Venue in Venice
Gabrielle Goliath is set to independently showcase three new installments of her performance project Elegy, which commemorates the victims of Israel’s genocide in Gaza. This will take place during the upcoming 61st Venice Biennale, following the controversial cancellation of her proposal for the South African Pavilion. “Palestinian lives will be grieved,” stated a press release from the artist’s team. The Chiesa di Sant’Antonin in Castello, a historic church from the seventh century, will host the exhibition, offering a significant upgrade from the traditional pavilions. The Bertha Foundation and the London art space Ibraaz are co-sponsoring the event.

Congratulations Are in Order …
Recently, curator Indira A. Abiskaroon Valbuena, recognized for her remarkable booth with artist Aiza Ahmed at last year’s Spring Break Art Show, has secured a prestigious role as the creative director and director of curatorial affairs at the soon-to-open Hip Hop Museum in the Bronx. As a native New Yorker with impressive credentials, including co-curating the Spike Lee exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum, Abiskaroon Valbuena shared, “I’m a ’90s kid who grew up in Queens. There is no doubt in my mind that I move through life the way I do in part because I’ve never known a world without Hip Hop.” She hopes the museum will highlight Hip Hop’s legacy and its impact on global culture.
