I’ve just returned from a dreamy residency at the Headlands Center for the Arts in Northern California. What makes the place so special is not only the sweeping views of the Marin Headlands, but also the warmth and generosity of the people who keep it running. I’m especially grateful to Louisa Gloger, Holly Blake, MJ Brown, and the rest of the Headlands team.
I also want to give a shoutout to the remarkable Bay Area artists, writers, activists, and other Hyperallergic readers I had the chance to meet over the past few weeks. It was a pleasure to spend time with such a vibrant community.
In the meantime, our excellent editorial team has been keeping things moving with a slate of must-read stories. Highlights include Erin L. Thompson’s investigation into the convicted antiquities dealer connected to priceless objects housed at dozens of museums across the United States, Ben Moser’s review of a new biography of Frederic Edwin Church, and Aaron Short’s report on the Aldrich’s inaugural decennial exhibition.
