Netflix has unveiled plans for a new series about Frida Kahlo, centering on her volatile relationship with Diego Rivera.
The project will adapt Claire Berest’s biography and is intended to tell Kahlo’s story from a Mexican perspective. It will examine the pair’s artistic collaboration, political commitments, and notorious love affairs.
Less than six months after Frida Kahlo became the world’s priciest female artist, Netflix announced the series, which will explore her life specifically through the lens of her bond with muralist Diego Rivera.
Lead writer María Renée Prudencio is adapting the script from French author Claire Berest’s 2019 Kahlo biography, Rien n’est noir.
