The Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas at Austin is now accepting applications for its 2027–2028 research fellowship program. Up to 50 fellowships will be awarded to support projects that require extensive on-site use of the center’s internationally renowned humanities collections.
Eligible applicants include graduate students, current and former academic faculty at any career stage, and independent researchers — among them journalists and artists — whose work draws closely on archival materials. Fellowship residencies last from one week to two months, and stipends are available to help with travel and research costs.
The center’s holdings encompass literature, photography, film, art, and cultural history, creating broad opportunities for interdisciplinary study. Recent acquisitions now available to researchers include the Lorne Michaels Collection, Ethel Waters Papers, and Irwin Winkler Papers.
Humanities scholarship produced through this program helps expand a body of knowledge that continues to reshape how communities understand what is preserved and valued. Applicants are advised to review the individual residency types and qualification requirements listed in the application instructions. The application deadline is 5:00 pm, CST on November 6, 2026.
